What it covers.
When two parties need to communicate in real time across languages, interpretation is a different challenge from translation. The interpreter must understand both what is being said and what is meant, and render it in the target language immediately, without the luxury of consulting a reference or reviewing what they have produced.
We provide three types of interpretation: simultaneous (conference interpreting where the interpreter works in real time from a booth), consecutive (the speaker pauses and the interpreter renders segments), and remote (via video conference platforms, whispered interpretation via earpiece, or telephone).
Simultaneous interpretation requires proper equipment: interpreter booths, receiver sets, and sound systems. For events requiring this equipment, we coordinate the technical setup as part of the service. We have experience with events in Bilbao, San Sebastian, Vitoria-Gasteiz, and throughout the Basque Country and wider Spain.
Legal interpretation is a distinct specialism. Interpretation in court proceedings, police interviews, notarial acts, and immigration hearings requires interpreters who understand legal terminology and the specific obligations of interpreting in a judicial context. We maintain a roster of interpreters with legal interpretation experience for these assignments.
